Bimbo Canada, part of the largest bakery company in the world and a global leader in bringing new food ideas and brands to market, recognized an opportunity amongst the culturally diverse Canadian population for authentic, Japanese inspired bakery products.
Using new steam baking technology, a first in Canada, Bimbo Canada developed a line of Japanese style baked cheesecakes and donuts. BrandBourg was fortunate to be given the mandate to create a new brand and package design for this extremely exciting initiative.
As its name suggests, UMO™ (meaning “feather” in Japanese), is unlike other cheesecakes and donuts, owing to its innovative steam baked manufacturing process that creates a light, moist, fluffy texture that is less sweet than traditional offerings yet deliciously unique.
Adorned on the packaging is Osito bear, the mascot of Grupo Bimbo recognized across the world as a loveable and reassuring symbol of the company’s commitment to high quality products.
Launched in a limited market, UMO™ is another example of Bimbo Canada’s goal of expanding its global leadership to better serve more consumers.
“BrandBourg’s leadership on this project was outstanding – from the development of inspiring brand ideas and name options, to the creation of an exceptional range of identity and packaging concepts, right through to assisting in the stewardship of brand execution in a variety of applications.”
